| It is very common that the degree of misregistration in the printing process is different in the X and Y axes. For example, in an offset press the paper feed direction is more vulnerable to misregistration problems. StudioRIP trapping can compensate for the unequal misregistrations by unequal trap sizes in the two directions, as shown on the pictures: the first picture shows a non-anamorphic trap (equal trap size on the two axes), the second picture shows an anamorphic trap (the trap size is different on the two axes).
